Advocacy

Children's Home Society of Washington has been a long-standing voice for children and families since its founding in 1896. We inform local and national policy makers of specific issues and the urgent need to improve the welfare of our state's most vulnerable citizens.

Our advocacy efforts have resulted in new funding, policies, and legislation that support the healthy development of children and their families. As champions for children, we're working to ensure that every child thrives and every family succeeds in Washington.

Children's Home Society of Washington: Fulfilling the promise of every child. For more information on CHSW's advocacy efforts, contact our Director of Public Policy, Laurie Lippold, at 1-800-456-3339 or by e-mail.

2010 Legislative Summary

The 2010 legislative session proved difficult as an unstable economy created challenges for our state legislators to balance the $2.8 billion budget. On April 13, the State of Washington ended a special extended session with the passage of a more than $30 billion supplemental budget that included new taxes and cutbacks to balance the budget and meet the needs of our most vulnerable children and families. At Children's Home Society of Washington, we are proud to report that the following pieces of legislation were passed and will go into effect June 10, 2010.
