Young philanthropist gives back
Daniel Tracy is a special 9-year-old boy. Like most kids his age, he delights in the joys of being a kid – playing sports, making music and hanging out with friends – but Daniel is unique in his desire to give back to kids like himself who are less fortunate; an altruistic trait that belies his age.
Children’s Home Society of Washington (CHSW) is an important organization to the Tracy family, as Daniel’s grandfather was employed by the company and shared the impact his work had on families in need in Washington state. This made a lasting impression on Daniel and when he celebrated his birthday this year, he expressed the desire to donate the money he received to charity.
“I want kids like me who don’t have as much to be able to be happy,” Daniel said. “I want to give back because it makes me feel good to help others.”
Daniel and his family regularly support charities in their area by donating clothes, books and toys to local organizations. They also enjoy participating in charity walks. The Tracy family continues to stay connected to CHSW through their philanthropy.
Daniel resides in Happy Valley, Ore. with his parents and older brother and sister. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball and the drums, and bike riding with his older brother.
