Longtime Children’s Home Society of Washington supporters Andy and Joanne MacDonald believe in the strength of family and community in raising children to allow them to reach their full potential.

“I’m from a family of four and Andy comes from a family of eight,” Joanne said. “Our parents provided a strong support system for us and our siblings.”

Growing up, Andy and Joanne were surrounded by their families as well as a tight-knit community where other parents looked out for each other’s children. Andy and Joanne, parents of three sons, want to help create a supportive environment for other children .

“Throughout our lives, we have had great families and communities behind us,” Andy said. “We know that a support system needs to be there for all kids.”

Andy and Joanne have been donors and volunteers of Children’s Home Society of Washington for more than 10 years. Andy joined the Board of Trustees in 2005 and currently serves as the board’s vice chair. He previously served as the treasurer.

ECG Management Consultants, the business that Andy led for many years and where he still works, has also been a supporter of Children’s Home Society of Washington through sponsorships and the organization’s employee match program.

“It’s a straightforward mission where children are No. 1,” Andy said. “To help children we need to help families so they can be great parents and provide a supportive environment for children to grow up in. It is a message that permeates through all the work of Children’s Home Society of Washington.”

In addition to an annual donation, Andy and Joanne have designated a gift to Children’s Home Society of Washington in their estate planning to ensure this critical work continues into the future.

“Our support goes toward charities where we have been really involved,” Joanne said. “For us, it has to be connected to our passion.”
